Police officers have uncovered a cannabis farm in Stockton believed to be worth up to £750,000.

Police attended an address on Bowesfield Lane this morning, (Wednesday, July 29), and found in excess of 870 cannabis plants.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of production of class B drugs and he remains in police custody at this time.

Sergeant Jon Sproson, from Stockton Neighbourhood Team, said: “This is yet another example of us acting on information from our local communities and taking action to rid the streets of Stockton of potentially harmful drugs.

“When we come across a dangerous set up like this one today, where the hazardous wiring and electricity puts others at risk, it is really concerning. The last thing we want is for something like this to set alight and potentially cause serious harm to people. We would advise anyone who suspects they know the location of a cannabis farm to contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone who has information on drugs activity in their local area is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, or independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111. Crimestoppers can also be contacted online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
