THE weather in the North-East and North Yorkshire has taken a turn for the worse with heavy rain affecting some parts of the region.
Parts of County Durham, Teesside, Hambleton and Richmondshire have seen rainfall since this morning.
But the forecast shows this rain may hold off later on with temperatures set to increase towards the end of the week.
The Met Office has also suggested there will be brighter conditions across the region as we go into the weekend.
Here's the forecast for the region - as of 5am on Monday.
Today
Wet start for most parts with rain heavy and persistent in places. More persistent rain will clear northeast during the afternoon with some drier and brighter intervals possible, but also further heavy showers. Blustery winds also strengthening through the day. Maximum temperature 19 °C.
Tonight
Blustery winds continuing overnight, however most parts turning dry with clear spells possible, especially towards the coast. Perhaps the odd shower moving southeast across the Pennines. Minimum temperature 10 °C.
Tuesday
Mostly dry with sunny spells at first, but still breezy. Cloud thickening, with further isolated showers across the Pennines, becoming more widespread by the afternoon, although many parts remaining dry. Maximum temperature 17 °C.
Outlook for Wednesday to Friday
Largely fine with sunny spells Wednesday, and winds easing. Chilly overnight into Thursday, with early brighter spells followed by thickening cloud, but staying dry. Sunny and likely very warm Friday.
