SEVERAL people were arrested following reports of a disturbance in a village street at the weekend.
During the incident, in Grange Villa, near Chester-le-Street, an 18-year-old man suffered serious injuries.
He was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries said to be, “non-life threatening”.
Durham Police received reports of the disturbance taking place in Albert Street, at about 9.20pm, on Saturday.
A spokeswoman said “several people” were arrested arising from the incident and were detained in custody for questioning, with inquiries “ongoing”.
The force described it as, “an isolated incident” with no threat of harm to the wider village community.
Anyone with information is asked to ring 101 and quote incident reference number 524 of July 25.
