A NEW partnership will see thousands of free school meals delivered to children across the summer term.

Football club charity MFC Foundation, launched and supported by Middlesbrough F.C, has joined up with Applebridge Family businesses group to distribute approximately1,000 free hot meals a day, for 6-weeks to the children of families who need it the most across Teesside.

The project has been made possible by the £40,000 donated by Applebridge Family to cover the cost of purchasing food, packaging and transport.

Starting today, the meals will be prepared daily at the Riverside Stadium by volunteer chefs and transported to local distribution hubs.

“We were inspired by the fantastic work carried out by Marcus Rashford in successfully lobbying the government to provide 1.3-million free school meals for children over the summer holidays,” says Chris Brown, Applebridge Manager Director.

“We hope the contribution provides some comfort to the families who struggle the most during the school holidays."
