A MAN has been stabbed in a County Durham street in the early hours of Tuesday morning, and a second man received stitches for his wounds.

Shortly after 2am, Durham Police officers were called by the ambulance service after two men suffered knife injuries during an incident in Logan Street, Langley Park.

One man in his late 20s suffered stab wounds to his back but was released from hospital after treatment and a second man, in his mid 20s, suffered cuts to his hand which required stitches.

Police are investigating the incident and both men, who are known to each other, are currently helping police with their enquiries.

Officers would like to reassure the community of Langley Park that this is believed to be an isolated incident and there is nothing to suggest anyone else is at risk of harm.
