A MOTORIST who panicked and sped off when police attempted to pull him over has been banned from driving for 12 months.
Craig Ahmed was spotted by police and when they realised he was an uninsured driver turned on their blue lights to get him to stop and pull over.
Teesside Crown Court heard how the 29-year-old tried to flee before getting stuck on a Redcar side street and being arrested.
Ian West, prosecuting, said Ahmed put up no resistance when the officers arrested him.
Ahmed, of Lime Road, Redcar, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving without a licence following the incident on January 20 this year.
His barrister, Paul Green, urged the judge to spare him custody as he was working and had received good references from his employer.
Judge Howard Crowson sentenced him to ten months, suspended for 12 months and made him subject to an 8pm to 5am curfew for four weeks for the dangerous driving charge.
