A TALENTED teenage dancer is representing Northallerton on a global scale this summer.

Connie Fisher, 15, of Brompton, beat hundreds of dancers when she was chosen to be part of the prestigious CYD? Dance Star Company.

She was due to take part in conventions all over the country this year but sadly the events were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Instead, the company has organised the UK's biggest dance convention which will be streamed online to audiences across the world.

It will be broadcast live by a professional film crew from studios in London and will feature stars from the West End and Pussycat Dolls dancer Kimberly Wyatt.

Daniela Fisher, Connie's mum, said that she was incredibly proud that her daughter won a place with the Dance Stars company and will be taking part in the convention.

She said: "Connie is so excited about it. Just to be part of the company at all is so great and under normal circumstances she would have been travelling all over the country with them and taking part in a big performance in Liverpool at the end.

"During lockdown a lot of these dance kids have been relying on virtual sessions and it's nice that the technology has helped fill the gap where they'd normally be out training after school."

The convention will be broadcast over the weekend of August 22 via canyoudancelive.com/scl
