A WOMAN was rescued and taken to hospital after she fell down a hill whilst walking on the Cleveland Way.
The woman, from Hull, had been walking with her son and a friend when she slipped and fell at Scarth Nick, between Osmotherley and Swainby, on Friday afternoon.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedics treated her at the scene for injuries to her left shoulder and right knee before calling Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team for help.
The team doctor and another member provided assistance, followed by other volunteers carrying additional medical equipment including a specialist mountain rescue stretcher.
In total 16 rescue volunteers attended for about 90minutes, with two coordinating remotely.
A Yorkshire Air Ambulance helicopter was also deployed but the casualty did not require helicopter evacuation.
Mountain rescue team members carried her on their stretcher 200m downhill to the waiting ambulance, which took her to hospital for treatment.
