POLICE are appealing for help to trace a boy who ran off after he was hit by a van this afternoon.

The boy, who is believed to be around 16-years-old, ran out in front of the van in Marcia Avenue, Shotton Colliery, at around 2.55pm today.

He ran away from the scene following the collision.

Officers are concerned for the boy’s welfare, and are appealing for help in tracing him.

He is described as having black hair, and was wearing a black top, grey bottoms and Nike trainers.

Anyone who has any information on the boy’s whereabouts should call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 283 of July 12.
