A PUB has confirmed it has closed temporarily after a customer has tested positive for coronavirus.
The Golden Eagle in Thornaby in Stockton, which sits on the ground floor of the disused Golden Eagle Hotel, confirmed in a Facebook post yesterday that it would close "for deep cleaning" until it would be safe to reopen.
The post read: "We can confirm that we have been notified by a customer that since visiting us on Tuesday 7 July 2020 at 15:25 for a period of 20 minutes they have tested positive for Covid19. Further they have had social contact with a member of our staff outside of work.
"All necessary information has been secured by us and will be passed on to the NHS track and Trace team."
The post then confirmed that in keeping with government guidance, the venue has closed for a deep clean and will re-open only when we are advised that it is safe to do so.
"In the meantime, we support our staff all of whom have been advised to be tested," it continued.
"We will update you on any developments, including re-opening, when we are able to do so."
