THE number of people who have died with coronavirus in the North-East and North Yorkshire has exceeded 3,000.
New figures show where coronavirus deaths have occurred outside hospitals and where Covid-19 has been listed on an individual's death certificate.
Analysis by The Northern Echo has found there has been 3,335 Covid-19 related deaths between the start of the outbreak and June 26.
Out of those deaths, 1,635 of those occurred in the 'community' and did not take place in a hospital setting.
Those deaths took place at either home, care home, hospice, communual establishment or 'elsewhere.'
The data, provided by The Office for National Statistics, shows care homes accounted for the highest number of deaths outside hospital.
While a further 97 deaths were recorded as taking place 'at home,' with County Durham and Sunderland seeing the highest such occurrences.
