WITH the Government announcing the reopening of pubs on Saturday, here is how some of the premises in Bishop Auckland will be operating to keep staff and customers as safe as possible.

The pubs that are opening with restrictions in place are:

The Northern Echo:

The King’s Head, Bishop Auckland, is opening on July 4 at 11am. Social distancing will be adhered to and hand sanitizing stations all around the pub.

The pub will be operating an in and out policy in through the front and out through the back.

The Northern Echo:

The Bay Horse is open normal hours from Saturday and is taking bookings, queueing at the door will not guarantee a seat.

The Tap and Tun will open Monday the July 6.

For the first week, we will be reduced opening hours, which are as follows Monday to Thursday 10am until 9pm.

Friday it will run normal 10am until 1am, Saturday 10am until 1am, Sunday 10am until 6pm

This will be reviewed after the first week of reopening.

All Covid restrictions will be in place at all times to keep staff and customers as safe as possible.

The Northern Echo:

The Red Alligator will be opening Tuesday, July 7 for lunch, evening meals and drinks. This will be run at a reduced capacity.

Customers are advised to pre book but walk ins are also welcome if there are tables available.

Sanitation stations are positioned at the entrance and exit doors and the pub will be operating table service only for drinkers and diners.

The Northern Echo:

The Station Hotel, Bishop Auckland, is opening July 20 for drinks and August 3 for food.

The landlord Cheryl Jeffrey said: “Use I feel it’s not safe to open yet as a Saturday it will be carnage and will need doors monitored and I feel like he opening 20th the dust will settle.”

The pubs and bars remaining closed until further notice are:

The Green Tree will remain closed for the safety of both staff and customers. This will be reviewed on a weekly basis.

The Merry Monk will also remain closed until further notice, they will review this weekly.

Bar Tutsters will not be reopening.
