THE family of Neville Henry Martin have paid tribute after his recent death on March 1, aged 89.

Mr Martin was married to Sheila Claire Martin. He was born in Greystones, Ireland, and lived there for many years. Most recently he lived in Durham.

Mr Martin started working life with his family’s building firm, then became a store manager for Marks and Spencer, then worked with many businesses in the community.

He also supported the local community as a city councillor, chairman of the governors for Eston Park School, in Middlesbrough, was a non-executive member of the ambulance trust and an active church member.

He was also a lifetime member of Brancepeth Castle Golf Club.

Mr Martin had four children, seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Mr Martin’s funeral service was held on March 18 at St Oswald’s Church, in Durham, followed by internment at the city’s South Road Cemetery.
