Police are appealing for witnesses after a fail to stop collision where a seven-year-old child was injured in Middlesbrough.

The incident happened at around 9.15pm on Friday (June 26) in Central Mews in Middlesbrough town centre.

The driver of a red, small delivery-style van did not stop at the scene and the seven-year-old boy was left with minor injuries to his face, ankle and leg.

The boy was taken to James Cook University Hospital and was released after treatment.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who may have private CCTV or dash cam footage, or any information registration of the vehicle, is asked to contact PC Spencer Kindon from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting 103277.
