A MENTAL health charity has received a donation of £3,000 from a Amazon fulfilment centre.
The newly built centre, located in Darlington, donated the money to Darlington Mind as part of its Amazon in the Community programme, whereby the company supports communities around its operating locations across the UK.
The charity provides support services for businesses and people across Darlington, Durham, Hambleton and Richmondshire to aid better mental health and well being.
Recently it has unveiled a range of new services in response to COVID-19, including telephone and video counselling, a bereavement helpline and a listening line for young people.
Prashant Pandey, Site Leader at Amazon Darlington, said: “This is the first of many donations to local charitable organisations. The charity do vital work in the community and they’re needed now more than ever. I’d like to thank them for everything they’re doing for the people of Darlington during these challenging times.”
Simon Davidson from Darlington Mind said: “Like all charities, we’ve been impacted by COVID-19 and this support from Amazon will really help us to continue to offer our services to the people who need it most. On behalf of our team at Darlington Mind, I’d like to thank Prashant and everyone at Amazon in Darlington for this fantastic donation.”
