A NUMBER of flights have resumed from Newcastle Airport with many more expected to take-off by the end of this month.

As Brits remain hopeful that they will be able to sneak off for a quick summer break or holiday, airlines have started ramping up flights.

Flights to Spain and France are among the first international flights to resume after more than two months of remaining grounded.

Some flights that had been operating throughout the coronavirus pandemic, and indeed the coronavirus lockdown, have instead ramped up the frequency.

Here's six Newcastle Airport destinations that you will be able to fly to by the end of this month:

Aberdeen - Loganair resumed flights on June 1, and Eastern Airlines resuming flights on June 22.

Alicante - Ryanair is resuming flights to the Spanish airport from June 22.

Amsterdam - KLM resumed flights on June 1.

Belfast - easyJet is to resume flights on June 15.

Paris - Air France is restarting flights from June 16.

Southampton - Loganair and Eastern Airways resuming flights from the 22nd June.

But holidaymakers may be out of luck as the government has not yet updated its guidance on going abroad during lockdown.

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office is currently advising British nationals against all but essential international travel.

This means flights abroad for the purposes of holidays are not yet permitted, due to the ongoing outbreak.

Many countries have kept their borders closed as they try and contain the spread of Covid-19.
