Police are appealing for information after a man, 29, was victim to an attempted robbery close to the junction of Peel Street and Thornaby Road in Thornaby on Sunday (May 31).

The incident occurred between 6.25pm and 6.45pm when the victim was approached by two men and a teenager who pushed him over and asked him to hand over his mobile phone.

When the victim refused, the three kicked and punched the victim and smashed his phone and then made off from the scene.

The victim was treated in hospital for minor injuries and later released.

One of the men responsible is described as being a white, 5 ft 10” to 6 ft tall, of stocky build with shaven brown hair and blonde stubble.

It is believed he is in his 20s and was wearing black trousers with no top.

A second man is described as being a white, around 5 ft 8” tall and around 20 years old.

The third person is described as being white and around 5 ft tall, of skinny build with blonde hair which is short in length.

He is believed to be aged 14 to 15 and he was riding a bike.
