FIREFIGHTERS were called to a house fire in Darlington yesterday.

The fire broke out in a bedroom of a home in Lanethorpe Crescent at about 6.24pm.

The occupants were able to safely leave the property before fire crews arrived on the scene.

A spokesman for County Durham and Darlington Fire Service said: “We sent two fire engines. Everyone was out of the property on the initial call.

“One bedroom was well alight and they used four breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire.

“All persons were accounted for.”

He added that no investigation had been ordered to find out the cause of the fire.

Crews left the scene at 7.34pm.
