BY the end of this week, every McDonald's restaurant in the UK will have reopened for either Drive-Thru or delivery.

The fast food chain, which has gradually reopened its restaurants throughout lockdown, is to reopen all remaining restaurants between Tuesday and Thursday.

A spokesperson for McDonald's in the UK, said: “By June 4, all of our restaurants will have reopened, either for Drive Thru or McDelivery.

“This means every Drive Thru in the UK and Ireland will reopen between Tuesday and Thursday next week and we will start to expand the availability of McDelivery too.

"This is only possible following the hard work of the teams in our 44 pilot restaurants.

"Over the last fortnight, our employees, franchisees and suppliers have worked tirelessly to implement new procedures to enable safe working so that we can now help all parts of the UK and Ireland to enjoy the return of the Big Mac."

Once open, all restaurants will be operational between 11am and 10pm meaning the McDonald's breakfast range won't be available just yet.

The fast food chain said in order to keep staff and customers safe, it would be working from a limited menu for the duration of the coronavirus pandemic.

McDonald's said it would be routinely taking contactless temperature readings of its staff as part of its plan to reopen more than 1,000 restaurants.

The fast food chain said it would deep clean every restaurant before re-opening, staff would be required to wash their hands every 30 minutes, practice social distancing and wear PPE.

It said: "To help create a safe experience for everyone, we’re enhancing our high standard of cleanliness even further and will be introducing a number of additional measures and changes to our restaurants.

"In addition to deep cleaning all our restaurants before re-opening, our teams will be washing their hands at least every 30 minutes and cleaning equipment and surfaces more often.

"In order to help our teams practice social distancing, as we open our restaurants, we will have fewer people working on each shift to provide a safer environment particularly when shifts change.

"We’ve also installed additional screens in our kitchens and service areas to aid social distancing and our teams will be wearing protective equipment, including face coverings."
