A TYNE and Wear-based paramedic and mum-of-two, Caroline Davies has released a new book.

Caroline, founder of first-aid training provider, Tumbles and Grumbles, has released a new book to help explain to children aged two to six-years-old what coronavirus is, and the importance of the social distancing rules that are in place.

The book has been made available to parents for free.

Through its Little Rescuers brand, Tumbles and Grumbles has also released a fun and engaging online course, as well as a series of free resources specifically designed to empower pre- and primary-school children with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to help others in an emergency situation.

Caroline said: "The survival rates for people suffering a cardiac arrest out of hospital are less than 10 per cent here in the UK.

"In parts of Scandinavia, they are as high as 56 per cent.

"The difference in survival rate is significant, and the higher odds for patients in places such as Norway come largely down to bystanders being able - and having the confidence - to start CPR.

"In Scandinavia, and other parts of the world, they teach first-aid to children as part of the curriculum. Here in the UK, we don't yet, though it will become part of the National Curriculum in September 2020 - which is encouraging."
