ALMOST 1,600 people across the North-East and North Yorkshire have died in hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus.
Latest figures published on Saturday afternoon confirmed one more coronavirus patient has died in the region, taking the death toll to 1,559.
Nationally, NHS England has announced 157 new deaths of people who tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 25,545.
The total number of patient deaths recorded by each trust in the North-East and North Yorkshire, as of Saturday, May 23 are:
County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust – 223 no new cases
Gateshead Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust - 129 no new cases
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust – 184 no new cases
North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust - 107 no new cases
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – 223 no new cases
South Tyneside & Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust – 312 no new cases
Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – 109 no new cases
York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – 198 no new cases
Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust – 60, 1 new case
Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (mental health) - 7 no new cases
Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (mental health) - 7 no new cases
Total: 1,559
