BROWN bin collections will resume for town residents this month on a reduced frequency.

From Tuesday May 26 Hartlepool Borough Council have confirmed that households will receive one brown bin, for household garden waste, collection every four weeks.

The brown bins will be collected on the same day as green bins.

Brown bin collection was suspended in response to the Coronavirus outbreak in order to ease pressure on resources and ensure that key frontline services such as the collection of residents' green/grey bins and street cleansing could be maintained.

Councillor John Tennant, Chair of the Council’s Neighbourhood Services Committee, said: “We are very pleased that we are now in a position to resume household garden waste collections, albeit on a reduced frequency for the time being.

"I would like to thank residents very much for their patience and support while the brown bin service was suspended.”

As these collections are carried out by different crews, they may take place at different times during the day. As usual, residents are asked to please ensure that bins are presented by 7.30am.

Residents can find out the collection dates for their particular property online at: www.hartlepool.gov.uk/findmybin or by calling Customer Services on (01429) 523333.

They can also download a calendar showing all future collection dates from the Council’s website.
