A LOCKDOWN library challenge has been set for Middlesbrough residents.

Although the town's libraries remain closed due to the coronavirus outbreak, BorrowBox - the digital library service - is still offering free eBooks and eAudiobooks.

With BorrowBox, residents can borrow from Middlesbrough Library 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Now Middlesbrough Libraries are challenging people to read six books by June, 14 from the collection via the BorrowBox app to be automatically entered into a draw a prize draw to win a Reading Hamper.

Cllr Mieka Smiles, Middlesbrough Council's Executive Member for Culture and Communties, said: "Whether on your phone, on your iPad or on your home computer, BorrowBox means the doors to the local library never close and we can all enjoy reading books around the clock, including all the best-selling titles."

The service offers books from big names such as Kate Atkinson, Bill Bryson, Margaret Atwood, Kate Morton, Ian McEwan, Jaqueline Wilson, Lynda LaPlante, among others.

BorrowBox can be used online and with Apple iOS and Google Android devices.
