A FURTHER 20 people have died in hospitals across the region after testing positive for coronavirus - an increase of the 13 deaths recorded yesterday.
Figures published on Friday afternoon confirmed a total of 1,377 patients had died in the North-East and North Yorkshire.
It comes as a further 58 people died in hospitals across England in 24 hours.
The total number of patient deaths recorded by each trust as of 5pm on Friday, May 8 are:
County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust – 195
Gateshead Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust - 119
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust – 160 was 157
North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust - 85 was 82
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – 204 was 199
South Tyneside & Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust – 293 was 288
Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – 100 was 99
York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – 157 was 155
Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust – 51 was 50
Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (mental health) - 6
Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (mental health) - 7
Total: 1,377 was 1,357 the day before.
