PARKING restrictions are under consideration in Hutton Village Road, Guisborough, to prevent vehicles parking in the area, which is often the stopping off point for walkers, and sometimes cyclists, visiting Guisborough Forest.

The road leads to Hutton Village and is a dead end. Whilst it is convenient for walkers to get into the forest, the number of parked vehicles is causing problems for residents to be able to pass in safety.

The line of parked cars on the roadside has caused congestion for people living in Hutton Village and for delivery wagons and farm vehicles.

In the recent fine weather, more than 20 vehicles could be seen parked on the road. The area is also popular for sledging in winter.

Now Redcar and Cleveland Council has proposed introducing no waiting regulations at any time on both sides of the road from the track leading to Home Farm up to the first house, Marvew House, in Hutton Village.

Notices have been posted to inform the public of the proposed changes.

However, concerns have been raised that this may simply move the problem with cars parking along Hutton Village Road before the Home Farm junction or parking in Hutton Village itself, where there are no restrictions.

Consultation on the proposals will now take place, and views should be emailed to emma.garbutt@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk or sent to J Sampson, Managing Director, Redcar and Cleveland House, Kirkleatham Street, Redcar, by May, 23.

Comments will be reviewed before a decision is taken.
