A YOUNG boy from Northallerton thanked his local care home workers by baking them cookies on Monday.
Liam Austin, 11, and his sister Emily Austin, 22, from Northallerton worked hard all day to bake 50 bags of cookies each with two cookies and a thank you message and delivered them to the workers at three care homes across Northallerton.
Liam and Emily's Mum Angie Austin works for Adult and Elderly social care and they wanted to say a big thank you to all the work they had been doing during the Covid-19 Crisis.
Liam Said: "I decided to bake cookies to thank all the care home workers as we are really grateful for all the work they've done and wanted to give something back and put a smile on their faces, we are so very proud of our Mum and her colleagues."
Emily added: "This was all Liam's idea and we are really proud of him. He has urged his friends to do the same while we have all this time on our hands and support those key workers that most need it."
Liam, who goes to Romanby Primary School in Northallerton, told his friends what he had done on Microsoft Teams and asked that they do something similar.
Emily said: "It took us all day, and Liam found it very hard not to eat the cookies, we did sneak ourselves some during the baking.'
