A KIND-hearted Darlington bingo employee has been ensuring her elderly residents are still receiving care during the coronavirus crisis.

Emily McLaren, 32, from Darlington works for Buzz Bingo in Skinnergate.

After Buzz Bingo, made the decision to temporarily close its clubs in line with government recommendations, Emily has been making sure her elderly customers are still receiving the care and attention, which they need.

With Bingo clubs up and down the country temporarily forced to close due to the covid-19 outbreak, many elderly individuals have lost their only means of community, communication, and entertainment, by being unable to attend their weekly or fortnightly bingo trip.

Emily has made sure to keep in touch with her customers by calling each individual to make sure they’re happy and healthy.

However, Emily mentioned that she didn’t want to stop there, she wanted to put her time away from the club to good use and share the community ethos Buzz Bingo employees hold.

She has now taken her kindness further by signing up to be a Key Volunteer for Darlington Borough Council.

This role will see her deliver shopping and medication to the most vulnerable in the area.

Emily said: “I hope that everyone is staying safe and can keep smiling until the Buzz Bingo family is back together one day.”
