NORMALLY filled with the smell of fish and chips, the seafronts in Redcar and Saltburn have been captured spookily quiet.

Like many of the region's most popular places, visitors are choosing to stay away following the government's plea to 'stay home.'

Saltburn, which attracted more than 2m people in 2017, was this week completely deserted of visitors.

The Northern Echo's photographer Sarah Caldecott has been on the sea front and captured these pictures which show how quickly life here has changed.
