A ONCE-popular staple of breakfast, lunch and dinner - depending on who you speak to - branches of Greggs remain closed as the UK enters the third week of coronavirus lockdown.

But the Newcastle-based bakery isn't letting fans forget about its products that easily - they've come up with the perfect solution to pass time by and be extra creative in the kitchen.

On social media, Greggs is asking people to "Greggs It Yourself" as it lays out the ingredients and recipes that you need to recreate your culinary favourites.

Starting on Friday, the firm has launched the first of its 'easy-to-follow' recipes with a quick 60 second video on how to create a Sausage, Bean and Cheese Melt.

A spokesperson for Greggs said: "With everyone stuck at home and missing their Greggs, we hope 'GIY' will provide a bit of light relief, as well as filling a void until we're able to open again.

"Whilst all the team are looking forward to be back serving customers as soon as it's safe to do so, hopefully everyone can get their bake on and have a bit of fun creating some of their favourite Greggs products."
