THE historic streets of Durham have fallen silent of tourists, shoppers, students and residents as the coronavirus lockdown approaches the end of its second week.
Cafes and hidden away restaurants steeped amongst centuries of history remain closed with just a few auxiliary lights remaining switched on - a reminder that people will one day return.
As Britons take the government's advice to stay home to reduce the spread of COVID-19, even This is Durham have told visitors to "stay away" in unprecedented times.
