STAFF at a village GP surgery and chemist have earned the gratitude of two patients in the same family, both with special health needs.
Louise McLean and her autistic son, Lennie, are in vulnerable isolation at home in Sacriston due to their respective health issues.
Ms McLean, who has been home “quarantined” for four weeks, has spinal difficulties and has undergone surgery twice this year, while eight-year-old Lennie suffers severe allergies and sensory overload.
He requires bloods for his immune system and takes various medication.
But, backed by her partner, Phil Simms, who has been given leave from his job as an electrician with South Tyneside Homes, and the dedication of staff at Sacriston Medical Centre and Sacriston Pharmacy, Ms McLean and Lennie have been supplied with their medication, delivered to their home.
“I want to say a huge thank you to my local GP surgery, the doctors and reception staff, and Sacriston Pharmacy Service. It’s been amazing, they have have been so helpful.”
Practice manager, Martin Bell, said: “Positive feedback and thanks from anyone at this time is very gratefully received. The entire system is under pressure and everyone is pulling together as best we can.”
