MARKET shoppers are being urged to make sure they observe social distancing rules if they visit today.

The market in Northallerton will take place today, though it will only include traders selling food products.

Hambleton District Council has urged those attending to ensure they observe rules on social distancing and has told people to only come for essential food items.

A spokesperson said: “The Northallerton market will be held and operating within current UK Government guidance tomorrow, traders selling food products only will be present and will be suitably distanced.

“Customers please order in advance where traders can offer that service, ensure you observe social distancing and follow any social distancing advice from traders.

“Please only come shopping for essential food items as per government restrictions, not for browsing or for a trip out.

“Please stay safe and wash your hands.”

The market in Stokesley, which takes place on Friday, is also scheduled to continue.

Shoppers there have also been encouraged to follow Government guidelines on social distancing.
