AN outpouring of generosity for our region's NHS and emergency service workers has led to scores of businesses offering huge discounts, and in some cases free food and drink as a thank you for their hard work.

Retailers such as Greggs, McDonald's, Starbucks and PRET are among major firms that have relaxed their ordinary menu rules in order to keep the region's health system moving.
