AN outpouring of generosity for our region's NHS and emergency service workers has led to scores of businesses offering huge discounts, and in some cases free food and drink as a thank you for their hard work.
Retailers such as Greggs, McDonald's, Starbucks and PRET are among major firms that have relaxed their ordinary menu rules in order to keep the region's health system moving.
The Northern Echo has today published a list of known food outlets and what they are doing to support NHS workers amidst the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Greggs
The Newcastle-based firm is offering free hot drinks to NHS staff.
McDonald's
All of its stores across the region are understood to be offering NHS and emergency service workers a free hot or cold drink.
Starbucks
Starbucks Coffee is offering free coffees, no matter what size, to NHS, council and emergency service workers.
Pret a Manger
Pret is offering all NHS workers free hot drinks and a further 50 percent off all of its food products.
Burger King
The fast food chain has said drinks are free for all NHS, emergency service workers and social workers in the UK.
Hotel Chocolat
It is offering every NHS worker a 50 percent discount on its products in store.
Nando's
Nando's has said it is offering NHS workers 50 percent off its menu across all of its branches.
