SEVERE disruption is expected later today as a weather warning for strong winds has been issued affecting the entire North-East and North Yorkshire region.

Today (March 12), the Met Office issued its latest Yellow weather warning for strong winds across County Durham, Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and Teesside.

Suggesting the region was highly likely to be hampered by increasing wind speeds of up to 60mph, the Met Office warned against disruption to transport across the region.

It said delays were expected on roads across the region, and bus and rail services could be affected due to extreme conditions.

The weather warning is expected to remain in place until 8pm on Thursday.
