THE A19 was closed southbound following an accident involving several vehicles on Wednesday morning.
The accident happened in the area of the A179 Sheraton junction, near Hartlepool, causing long delays.
Reports suggest seven vehicles were involved.
The road has now reopened and traffic is easing.
