AN extensive search was last night underway after an 81-year-old man went missing.

Brian Gordon Warriss was last seen at his home in Aldwark, north of Harrogate and York, at about 4.45pm yesterday afternoon.

North Yorkshire Police are very concerned about his welfare and are urgently appealing for information to help find him.

They have asked people who live in or have friends in the Aldwark area to share the appeal.

Mr Warriss is described as being of slim build and has blue eyes and a grey moustache. He was wearing a red fleece top, navy blue trousers and a red hat.

Officers yesterday began extensive searches in and around Aldwark, with support from the police helicopter.
