FIVE men have been arrested following the death of a man in Stockton.

Paramedics were called to an address in Newtown Avenue this morning.

Police were called by the ambulance service at 11.10am.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Sadly the man was declared deceased shortly afterwards and inquiries into his death - which is currently being treated as unexplained - began. 

"The man has not yet been formally identified."

Five people, aged 19, 23, 27, 28, and 29, have been arrested in connection with the man's death and are in custody awaiting questioning. 

Inquiries are on-going and police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Cleveland Police via the 101 number, quoting event 31100.
