POLICE have managed to reopen a stretch of the A688 in County Durham following a crash earlier this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision which happened between Thinford Saddlery and the electricity substation on Thinford Lane, near Spennymoor, at about 5am.
Durham Police had said the A688 was expected to remain closed in both directions from the A167 (Thinford roundabout) to A177 throughout rush hour.
But in the last few minutes the road has been reopened and traffic is returning to normal.
