POLICE have warned someone will be seriously hurt by snowballs being thrown by schoolchildren.

Officers have appealed to parents to get their children out of Consett town due to ongoing disorder at the bus station.

A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “Can parents please contact their kids and get them out of Consett town centre.

“We currently have a large gang of 11 to 14yr old kids throwing snowballs at buses, elderly people and shops near the bus station.

“Now we don’t mind a bit of fun but this has gone beyond fun.

“Someone will get seriously hurt if this behaviour continues. Please advise them to go to the local park away from people and cars and continue the fun there. Thank you for your help with this matter.”
