FESTIVAL goers are set to be entertained this year as event organisers have named Will Young as the second major artist to perform at a free festival.
The chart-topping singer, known for singles such as Leave Right Now, Jealousy and You and I, will perform at the South Tyneside Festival in South Shields on July 19.
The singer became a household name in 2002 after winning Pop Idol, before going on to achieve two Brit Award wins and seven best-selling albums.
Today, Will said: "I’ve heard great things about the South Tyneside Festival and I’m really looking forward to entertaining the crowd in July.
“Performing at summer festivals is great fun and there’s always an incredible atmosphere at outdoor concerts.”
The 2020 South Tyneside Festival, organised by South Tyneside Council, is taking place at Bents Park in the town across July.
Mayor of South Tyneside, Councillor Norman Dick said: "Will Young is a hugely celebrated artist and an excellent choice for the second Bents Park show.
“He has an amazing catalogue of songs, from both his early career and his later albums, and I think he’ll be very popular with music fans."
