THE Northern Echo has launched a weekly feature in which we present a bouquet of flowers to an individual or group going the extra mile in their community.

The recipient of this week’s bouquet of the week is Dr Daniel Palmer, who works at Denmark Street Surgery in Darlington and was awarded his flowers yesterday.

Why do they deserve this gift?

Dr Palmer was nominated by Ms Caroline Howarth, 29, who wanted to acknowledge his understanding approach with patients.

Ms Howarth said that whenever she pays a visit to the Denmark Street Surgery, she finds her GP Dr Palmer is very approachable, easy to talk to and helps her a great deal.

What is the most deserving thing they have done?

His everyday hard work as a doctor. He has a great demeanour with his patients which makes him worthy of deserving of this recognition.

Denmark Street is a amazing surgery with staff going above and beyond their job roles for their patients.

Describe them in three words

Amazing, understanding and helpful.

Upon receiving his bouquet, Dr Palmer said: "It's a big surprise to be nominated.

"It's lovely feeling to know that one individual acknowledges and appreciates your help - but I am confident that all of the doctors here at the surgery aim to offer the same level of care and service to each one of our individual patients, and help as many as possible.

"It's very nice to receive some positive feedback from the public, and to know you have helped someone by doing your job."
