Fake £50 notes and Scottish £20s going around, police warn
FAKE bank notes are in circulation in County Durham.
Police in Peterlee have issued a warning urging people, particularly businesses, to be alert and counterfeit £50 notes and fake Scottish £20 notes were handed in to officers.
A spokesperson for the Peterlee neighbourhood team said: "They are in circulation in and around Peterlee.
"Please pay close attention when receiving these notes.
"If you have any concerns then please get in touch."
