A PLANNED road closure of the A66 to allow for road works has been cancelled due to Storm Dennis.
The westbound A66 was due to be closed at Scotch Corner and the eastbound A66 at Rokeby, with local traffic being diverted around full carriageway closures at the junctions with Dick Scot Lane and Warreners Lane.
However, due to high winds forecast this weekend with Storm Dennis, the work has been postponed.
Highways England said: "Unfortunately we have had to cancel the planned closure for this weekend. The forecast extreme high winds mean it would not be safe for our roadworkers.
"The final two weekends we will be continuing deep resurfacing at New Lane and Mainsgill and will be removing trees that limit visibility at Moor Lane."
