IT has been confirmed that Richmond MP Rishi Sunak has been promoted to Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Previous Chancellor Sajid Javid has today resigned from the post.
Mr Sunak has served as Chief Secretary to the Treasury since July 2019.
A smiling Sajid Javid arrived on Downing Street and walked quickly into Number 10.
But, once inside Sajid Javid quit as Chancellor after Number 10 ordered him to sack his team of aides, a source close to the former minister said.
In a dramatic move which follows rumours of tensions between the ex-chancellor and Boris Johnson's closest aide Dominic Cummings, Mr Javid said that "no self-respecting minister" could accept the condition being imposed.
