THE latest fast food store to open in the North-East is in the process of offering each of its inaugural customers a free Whopper burger.

Earlier this week, Burger King's latest restaurant on Thinford Lane, near Spennymoor, in County Durham opened to the public on Monday.

The Thinford Lane development, located off Thinford Roundabout, includes McDonald's, Costa Coffee, KFC and Domino's Pizza.

As part of the grand opening the restaurant is offering up 1,000 free Whopper vouchers, limited to 200 per day, to prospective customers until the end of the week.

Throughout the week staff have been handing out the 'sought-after' vouchers in and around Thinford Lane, while customers have been told they have to download the 'BK app' in order to claim.

Alasdair Murdoch, chief executive officer of Burger King UK, said: We know the people of Durham love the great-tasting food of Burger King, so we’ve listened to their requests and are very excited to bring all their favourites to their neighbourhood.

"Our home, of the Whopper, is their home.”
