A MAN is in hospital receiving treatment for multiple stab wounds.

Police were called to the Langthwaite Walk area of Redcar at around 4.30pm yesterday where they found the injured man.

Detectives launched an immediate investigation to find the suspect and deployed firearms officers to the scene.

Officers believe that there was an altercation between the victim and another man at the front of a property on Jamison Avenue in Redcar some time before.

Detectives have arrested a 33-year-old man in connection with the incident and he is in police custody.

The man's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Anyone who may have witnessed an earlier altercation between two men on Jamison Avenue are asked to call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference 020793.

Anyone with any information is also asked to call 101 quoting the same reference number.
