A POPULAR bakery and cafe is the latest to suffer a break-in after a number of attacks on businesses in Cockerton.

This morning, the owners of Robineau Cafe and Patisserie, on West Auckland Road, received a call to say their premises had been broken into during the night.

The break-in follows a previous incident at Alderson's Butchers, which occurred on Friday, January 17.

Police are appealing to the public for information regarding the two break-ins.

A spokesperson from Durham Constabulary said: "We were called at 6.20am today following reports of a burglary at Robineau Patisserie on West Auckland Road, in Darlington.

"The suspect is believed to have smashed the front glass doors to gain entry into the premises in the early hours of this morning.

"Anyone with any information that could help the investigation should call police on 101, quoting incident number 35 of January 28.

"Officers are also investigating a burglary that happened at Alderson’s Butchers, in Cockerton, at 7.10pm on Friday, January 17.

"The suspect, who was wearing a hoodie with the Gym King logo on the left chest area, tracksuit bottoms and black Nike Air Max trainers, is not believed to have taken anything during the burglary.

"Anyone with any information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 383 of January 17."
