A CHILD has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Darlington this morning.
The 12-year-old girl was injured in an incident involving a Vauxhall Corsa on North Road, just before 8.30am.
She has been taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital.
A spokeswoman for Durham Police said: "Police were called to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian on North Road, Darlington shortly before 8.30am this morning (January 27).
"A 12-year-old girl has been injured during the incident which involved a Vauxhall Corsa."
Motorists were told to avoid the area as congestion started to build.
