A MOTHER who saw her daughter fatally stab her father in the back thought he was going to kill them both, a court heard.

In a pre-recorded police interview, Kelly Breeze relived the events of the night that ended with the death of her partner Colin Brady at the hands of her daughter Jessica.

Teesside Crown Court heard how all three had been at the family home on Keith Road, Middlesbrough, last June when an argument spiralled into a fatal stabbing.

In her evidence, she said Mr Brady had been threatening to kill them when Jessica, then 19, plunged the knife into her father's back.

She said: "Jessica was behind me and I saw her go past me and I saw her (gestures with her arm) towards him, as he was saying he was going to kill us.

"I saw her arm do this (again gesturing with her own arm) and when she has moved away I have seen the silver knife in his back.

"When I saw the knife, I thought what has she done. He says he is going to kill her and then she run past me and he has a knife in his back.

"She started screaming, I started screaming and he was just walking around saying 'what have you done?'."

The defendant, now of Central Mews, Middlesbrough, denies murder.

The trial continues.
