AN MP has called for an inquiry into failings at a mental health hospital to be extended to look at another institution.
Middlesbrough MP Andy McDonald said the inquiry at West Lane Children and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS), run by Tees Esk and Wear Valleys (TEWV) NHS Foundation Trust, should also look at Roseberry Park Mental Health Hospital, also run by TEWV, following the deaths of two adults in 2019.

He said: "I have also had conveyed to me very serious concerns about how that adult service has been and continues to be run. There are, in my view, striking similarities between the criticisms of the practices at West Lane and at Roseberry Park.
"In those circumstances, I have provided NHS England with details of those allegations and concerns and I have asked that the scope of the Independent Inquiry be extended to include Roseberry Park."
West Lane Hospital, in Middlesbrough closed last year following the deaths of two teenagers.
A spokesperson from NHS England said: “We have been in regular contact with Mr McDonald regarding services provided by TEWV and the current independent investigation which is still in its early stages.
"We are aware of the additional concerns he has raised which will form part of our future discussions.”
